Lotus Sports Club – a community of paddlers since 1986
Vision
To develop youth and adult programs that continue to sustain the growth of paddling sports as an open community program, by continuing the partnership with local schools, recreational groups, and the general public.
Mission
Our mission is to provide members the opportunity to learn, train, race, connect with the ocean, and honour and respect the cultural traditions and Aloha Spirit inherent in Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddling.

Club History
Lotus Sports Club teaches paddling to people of all ages and skill levels. Members can learn and train in different types of watercraft, including outrigger canoes (OCs) and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs).
The club’s paddling program began in 1986 when a team competed in the first Vancouver International Dragon Boat Races at Expo ’86. In 1989, the club organized Canada’s first outrigger canoe race, the Lotus Iron, helping establish its reputation as both a competitive and recreational paddling club.
Also in 1989, the club started a junior development program. Since then, more than 2,000 young people have taken part in its paddling programs.
The club launched its stand-up paddleboard program in 2013. It has become very popular thanks to the calm waters and long shoreline of Indian Arm, which provide excellent conditions for both beginners and experienced paddlers to learn, practice, and explore.
The healthful, social and environmentally friendly aspects of our watersports have drawn many people to the Lotus Sports Club. We encourage you to come and try it out!
